FLOWER SHOW IS THE TOPS

Wrenthorpe Gardening Club’s fourth annual spring flower show held in the village hall last Sunday was probably the best yet. Local and Yorkshire growers, as well as some from further afield filled the display shelves with daffodils, tulips, pot plants of every description as well as home produce to make this a great day out. The organising committee were especially pleased by the number of entries in the junior classes for a flower arrangement in an egg cup and a spring painting or collage.

The most sought after prize, the Daffodil Society’s Bronze Medal was won by Ron Crabtree, while the Carr Gate Garden Centre Trophy went to Pat King from Colne. The trophies were presented by club member Mavis Griffiths who also won the main raffle prize of a garden table and chairs provided by the show’s main sponsors, Wyevale Garden Centres. As usual the plant stall was popular with visitors and raised nearly £400 for club funds.
